PREMIER LEAGUE WIN FOR 1st XI
Saturday 17 July 2010 RUSSELL 89, KHAN 68 AND RYAN HAIRE 4 FOR 57 AS NORTH DOWN TOPPLE LEAGUE LEADERS. See RESULTS Section and LEAGUE TABLE for details

John and Seymour keep the game running smoothly
Neil Russell dominated the Lisburn attack from the first over and batted with his usual aggression. His great 89 runs came off not many more balls and the major support came from Taimur Khan with another good knock of 68. Their 2nd wicket partnership realised 144 and laid the foundation for a big home score.
Andrew Sutherland missed out and the middle order batting was disappointing with Ryan Haire, Daniel Harding and Peter Shields not taking advantage of the excellent start.
The 245 for 9 maybe was 'par for the course' with the wicket turning more than usual. Ian Whitten returned the commendable figures of 4 for 68.
The Lisburn batting failed dismally to rise to the challenge and at 24 after 10 overs the openers had already made a big target a lot bigger. Tillakaratne batted well for his 70 not out but he needed substantial support and it was nowhere to be found.
Ryan Haire was the wicket taker for the home side with an excellent 4 for 57 off his allotted 10 overs and Kieran Donnelly wrapped up the tail and finished on 3 for 13.
