 DIVISION 3 SECTION 3 CHAMPIONS
Sunday 5 September 2010 FOURTH XI WIN IN ARMAGH TO CLINCH TITLE

Holidaying skipper, Graham Moreland, missed the final match against Armagh
Acting captain, Don Shields, asked Armagh to bat on winning the toss at a damp and drizzly Mall.

Paddy Carser batting at The Mall
Evidence of Armagh's lowly league position was seen early as Peter Davison and Michael Quinn tied down the openers Spratt and Wright. After the first 7 overs only 14 runs were scored and the wicket of Spratt had been picked up by Davison courtesy of a good Paddy Carser catch.
Wright turned an Ian Carser delivery into the hands of David Wishart at square leg and soon after Quinn bowled McCarter for 14.
Dobbs and Wilson showed some aggression hitting 21 each, but it was too little too late as a Don Shields stumping and a gully catch by Aaron Mills saw Armagh finish on 102 from their allotted 30 overs.
The bowlers all performed well with Davison finishing on 2 for 24, Quinn 1 for 18, P Carser 1 for 15 and top performer I Carser with 1 for 5 off his 6 overs. Mills was wicketless conceding 29 runs to some end of innings big hits.

David Wishart had made his important contribution - a hard hitting 35
David Wishart and Paddy Carser opened the North Down innings and the forceful Wishart appeared intent on finishing the game early. His 35 included 5 boundaries before he was caught at extra cover.

Lets go down with a fight lads

Aaron Mills in aggressive mode

but he treated the better delivery with respect
Young Carser was impressive, especially on his leg side play, and finished unbeaten on 23. The batting performance of the day goes to Mills with four boundaries in his 34 not out. He finished the match with a six over the point rope and in doing so brought the Champions crown to the 4th XI with the brilliant record of played 13 won 13.

Paddy Carser, impressed again as an opening bat

Young Armagh fielder accepts the inevitable as the 'last post' is sounded
Mills, after early calculations has won the 4th XI batting award and Quinn the bowling award - to be confirmed!
Well done to Graham Moreland and his team for a superb season.
