Message from the President in Barbados

Great weekend for the 1st XI and if it can be repeated next weekend what a bonus for our Young Guns with a few ‘oul hands! Keep punching above your weight and eventually everyone will recognize we have something special building at The Green. Well done everyone, especially Peter and Su for their centuries, but we all know it’s a team thing at the club so well done everyone on and off the field.

1st XI Belmont Thriller

Andrew Sutherland and Pieter Malan (photo) both scored centuries in a remarkable turn around in this top of the league clash at Belmont.

At the drinks interval in the first innings CIYMS were poised to comfortably break the 300 run barrier at 154 for 1.

North Down hadn't bowled badly but the quality and aggression of the CI pro Rassie van der dussen took them to an unassailable position - or did it?

When he was run out by Daniel Graham they lost 6 wickets for a mere 80 runs and finished on 242. A great team effort saw Eakin, Malan and Mulder pick up wickets.

Andrew Sutherland showed what he is capable of with a controlled innings that dealt equally confidently with the best of pace and spin in the Premier League.

Pieter Malan approached the challenge in a typical manner, building an innings, wearing down the opposition and then moving into overdrive at the appointed time.

A brilliant team performance that has thrown down the gauntlet to the chasers.
