Ulster Cup Semi v Waringstown

The sun shone towards the conclusion of this Ulster Cup Semi Final and it was the North Down supporters who basked in it.

With the unpredictability of the season, it was gratifying to see the 1st XI completely outplay a strong Waringstown side.

Marty Moreland won the toss and his side had scored 30 in 2 overs of this 20 over game before the visitors had got warmed up.

Kyle McCallan and Lee Nelson bowled tightly but Danny Graham, Peter Eakin and Ali Shields batted particularly well and the target of 194 was always going to be a difficult one to chase down.

Eakin's brilliant 73 was scored in 33 balls and Ali Shields scored his 45 in good time and through the pain barrier towards the end of the innings.

Danny Graham set the tone with a sparkling 30 and although Pieter Malan fell for 25, the young guns remained unbeaten at the end.

The bowlers did a great job and Peter Davison and Marty Moreland ensured that Waringstown didn't get off to a flier and after 4 overs the score was a modest 20

The Final is at The Green and the opposition will be Eglinton or Instonians.
