Annual Dinner 2016

Peter Shields, Chairman, welcomed all to the evening and outlined the format it would take.

The Annual Dinner began with an acknowledgement of two of our supporters, Ian McKnight and Phillip Grimason, on their dedication and care of our late departed Patron Derek Steen and his wife Shirley who recently died within two weeks of each other.

Club President Clarence Hiles welcomed our main guest, outgoing NCU Chairman Andy Clements and Andy in his turn was highly in praise of the club and its contribution despite the difficulties on the field.

The guests retired to the upstairs meal which was absolutely lovely thanks to Lesley and Helen and then proceeded down to the bar area for the presentation of the awards and the drawing of the ballot.

Thanks to Claire Shields and Andy Clements for distributing the awards.

In conclusion the Chairman thanked all for attending and made particular reference to the youth programme, set up by Scott Irvine and implented with toal dedication by John Gilliland and Andy Macrory.

The Ladies were the undoubted success story on the field, winning the Cup and finishing runners up in the league and a special plaudit went to their captain Sandi Harrinson for her work in establishing the Ladies squad and playing a vital part in leading the 4th XI.

Graham Moreland and Billy Adams were also applauded for their efforts to put teams in the field and the sponsors were thanked for their continued vital input.

The Chairman also made an appeal to members to do what they could to assist in any way with the running of the club.

The evening was enjoyed by all and the lyrics of Wayne Carr's "Tambourine Man" was less appropriate than "The Times they are a changin" that followed.
