On a glorious September day the 3rd XI played league leaders Cooke Collegians for a share of the title. They batted first and got off to the worst possible with the departure of pinch hitter David Wishart but recovered brilliantly. Lewis Dugan (pictured) led the way with some special hitting in his 88 being particularly harsh on Michael Grimason hitting him for 3 consecutive sixes. He was ably supported by Hammie Coulter (19), Peter Shields (32) and Roger Smith (16*) and extras added 22 to take the total to 179 in the allotted 20 overs. Pick of the Cooke bowlers was Jeremy Burrows with 2 for 20.

Cooke struggled from the start with the dynamic attack of Billy Adams and David Napier. Both took early wickets and only a stand in the middle of the innings from Logan (17) and Wilson (16) saved Cooke from an embarassing total.  Aaron Macrory, Finlay Keenen and an over each from John Gilliland and Graham Moreland brought the victory and in a congested league, North Down had pulled out from a potential relegation situation a few weeks ago to sharing the title. Quite an achievement.
