 WIN AGAINST THE ODDS
Monday 5 May 2008 North Down win thriller by 3 runs

Paddy O'Hara, Peter Shields, Trevor McKeown and Trevor Magee before the North Down v Lisburn game at The Green
Performance of the day came from the Lisburn pro but the points stayed at The Green and the side moved to the top of the Ulster Bank Premier League with 3 wins from 3 starts.
Gerry Strydom turned in a great batting demonstration when he hit 116 at a sun soaked Green today.
Severe on the short delivery and picking singles at will he took Lisburn to the brink of victory only to see an inevitable win crumble to a 3 run defeat.
The North Down morale received a huge boost when Strydom was well caught at long off by Jo Montgomery, but Lisburn only needed twenty more runs with 7 wickets remaining and sufficient overs to cruise to a win.
It was not to be as a 'never say die' approach from the home side, combined with excellent bowling from all the bowlers under pressure led to wickets and more importantly pressure from overs running out.
Seven runs were needed from the last Taimur Khan over and amazingly Lisburn fell three runs short with three wickets in hand.
