MALAHIDE v NORTH DOWN (IRISH SENIOR CUP ROUND 1)
The toss was important and Peter Shields won it and invited the hosts to bat. The pace and movement was too much for the Malahide early order and Connell and Khan ripped into them leaving them 17 for 5 and no way back. Peter Connell took 4 for 12 and Taimur Khan 3 for 10.
The home side scraped 78 thanks to a stubborn unbeaten 24 for Kirwan batting number 8, but the innings ended in the 40th over leaving North Down in an almost invincible position.
No tea was taken between innings and Jo Montgomery played some beautiful boundary shots before he was bowled for 25.

Vice Captain Marty Moreland and Captain Peter Shields plot the downfall of Killymallaght
Ryan Haire, fresh from his cricketing trip to the Caribbean with the Ireland under 15s, needed time at the wicket and took full advantage of the situation and remained unbeaten with 26 at the end of the 19 overs taken to win the match.
Andrew Sutrherland's bat pad was unheard and unseen by the umpire and he had to walk given lbw. Taimur was also adjudged lbw.
This was a comfortable win and we await the draw for the next round hoping for a tie at The Green.
