Player Profiles

Haire Andrew

NAME: Andrew Haire

AGE: 25

CRICKETING STYLE: Passionate and hopefully a winning style lol

WHAT MAKE OF GEAR DO YOU USE: GM and Slazenger

BEST PERFROMANCE FOR NORTH DOWN 1stX1: Unsure, possibly the 2008 Senior Cup Quarter Final v Instonians, but hopefully i will be able to update this very soon.

MOST MEMORABLE GAME FOR NORTH DOWN 1stX1: 2001 Senior Cup Final at Ormeau would probably have to be up there, due to the fact that it felt like a very special occassion at the time, with it being the last final to be played at the ground ever, also being my first ever final at the time.

MOST MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE AGAINST NORTH DOWN: Would have to be Hazan Raza's brilliant century against us a few years ago when he played some of the most extrodinary shots i have seen to this day and almost won the game singlehandedly!

MOST DETERMINED PLAYER AT PRACTICE AND WHY: I would have to agree with Daniel that big Su (Andrew Sutherland) is undoubtadely one of the most hard working players that we have. Also think big Russler deserves a mention here for his thousands of balls faced against the bowling machine and my left arm...however I will never ever tell him to come closer again!!

FUNNIEST GUY IN THE 1st X1 DRESSING ROOM AND WHY: New arrivals Keiran 'K Dog' Donnelly and Daniel 'chopper' Harding already seem to have fitted into the team like a glove, probably in part due to their ability to tell some funny jokes and stories...although Andrew Sutherland does crack me up to the extreme!!

WHO IS THE SMARTEST TEAM MATE AND WHY: Difficult question to answer that as nobody seems to stand out LOL! Id have to say after watching Daniel Graham and Michael Martin swotting away during our friendlies they have to be right up there!!!

WHO IS THE CLUMSIEST TEAM MATE AND WHY: Has to be big Gav, probably because i cant vote for myself...also the messiest teammate so had to get the nod...big dazzler's mantle has definately been taken!

BEST CATCH YOU'VE TAKEN: To be honest I could not answer this question..ill leave it to someone who got a good view of it lol!

BEST CATCH YOU'VE SEEN TAKEN: Dale Mullan at Downpatrick v North Down

some years back to dismiss Timi on the boundary. He must have sprinted 30 yards down the hill and taken a full length forwards diving catch at a crucial stage in the game.

BEST 3 CRICKETERS PLAYED WITH AT N.DOWN AND WHY: Would have to be Ryan Haire, Peter Shields and Marty Moreland for their consistent performances for the club over the last number of years and loyalty to the club throughout this period.

BEST 3 CRICKETERS PLAYED AGAINST AND WHY: Would have to be Kyle McCallen, Andrew White and Regan West as they always managed to produce match winning performances for their respective teams down the years in all three disciplines of the game.

FAVOURITE GROUND TO PLAY AT APART FROM THE GREEN AND WHY:

I would have to say that my second favourite ground to play cricket at is The Meadow, Downpatrick. Probably due to the history attached with the ground hosting some of the biggest matches down the years, but also due to the good playing surface for batting.

WHO IS THE BEST “TEAM MAN” ON NORTH DOWN 1st X1 AND WHY:

There are many team men on the 1st XI thankfully so a hard one to call. Id probably have to say Johnny Terrett is a big team man and a player who has fitted really well since joining the club last year.

WHAT ARE YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL GOALS FOR THIS COMING SEASON:

Just to improve my game and score as many runs and take as many wickets as possible, to help the team to enjoy as much success as we possibly can.

WHAT TO DO YOU SEE AS THE “TEAMS” GOALS/ASPIRATIONS FOR THIS COMING SEASON:

I feel that all the North Down teams should be looking forward to the season ahead as an opportunity to be successful at their respective level, which can only be achieved through hard work and enjoying playing the game...let us hope for sunshine!!
