David Irvine has made a come-back to cricket after a long absence. A former Cregagh player of the early '80's and Queen's University from '84 to '86, he was tempted back to competitive cricket by the success of son, Scott.
After a couple of outings in 2008, David captained the North Down 3rd XI in 2009 to the Division 3, Section 2 league title. A bowling style that lacks the energy of the glory days but can still achieve results, and batting that relies more on memory than textbook does not diminish his enjoyment and enthusiasm for the game.
