UNDER 17/COLTS (20th July 2007)

The belated Colts Cup fixture was eventaully settled in most dissappointing fashion as a bowl-out on Thursday evening with the home side emerging as victors with a score of 2/1 in their favour. The fixture which NDCC had attempted to have confirmed on a number of occassions to no avail was probably the worst possible draw with distance to travel and the incapacity of the Armagh ground to take the recent poor weather resulting in the end result of a last minute bowl-out. The one successful Northdown bowler Ryan Galway should be congratulated and the team commened for their enthusiasm to travel and get an end result despite the frustrating circumstances. It is a pity that there is only one fixture at this age group level and something which must surely be considered by the powers that be in the union as it is this age when drop-out from the game seems to be at its greatest.
